Cabbage rolls

Ingredients cabbage rolls:
1.5 kg of cabbage ( regular or pickled )
400-500 grams of minced meet (veal, beef or pork)
50-100 grams rice (300 ml)
100 grams onion
100 ml tomato juice
pepper
dill
laurel leafs
savory
tomato juice

You need to have a cabbage with thin leaves. If you want to use regular cabbage you need to steam the leaves before and then remove the leafs one by one .

Mix the meat with the onion and 2 spoons of oil. You add the rice that was previously washed and drain with pepper. If the meat is fat you add 150 ml of water for 100 grams of rice and if the meat is lean you add 200 ml water for 100 grams of rice. You mix everything very well. If the meat is very lean and you do not add water the rice will not have enough water for the rice to boil and they will be tough.

On a cabbage leaf you put approximate a spoon of the mix you did before and you fold it like in the image. Roll up tightly in the cabbage leaf to wrap the filling. Roll up the cabbage leaf, tucking in ends.

You cut some of the leaves very thin and put it on the bottom of the pot and place the cabbage rolls in layers. You add water and more chopped cabbage at the top. You boil them approximately 1.5-2 hrs.

You can serve them with sour cream and yogurt aside.

Variations.

Some people saut� the onion in the oil and then add half of the rice and one cup of water until the rice gets big. The you let it stand until gets cold .After that you mix the rice with the meat and you add the rest of the rice, salt , peppers, dill .You can add one cup of water and you start mixing it very well.
