Gingerbread Cookies
Gingerbread cookies Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
1/4 lb butter
1 teaspoon baking soda
Raisins optional
2 beaten eggs
1/4 golden syrup or honey
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons ginger
Icing
1-1/2 confectioners sugar
small amount of water
some drops of food coloring
Put the butter, sugar and syrup in a saucepan and stir them together over low heat until they have melted. Add the flour, ground ginger and baking soda. Add the syrup mixture and the beaten egg. Mix everything together and with the palm of your hand form a ball. Put the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes take the dough and put on the table. Sprinkle some flour on the table before. With a rolling pin, roll the dough until about � inch. With some cookie shapes cut down the form you want (stars, moon, etc). Set the oven to 375F and melt a little of butter and grease the baking sheet using a pastry brush. Put the cookies on the baking sheet. Bake them for 10 to 15 minutes until they are golden brown. Make almost 30 cookies.
For icing sift the confectione sugar into a bowl.Add a bit of water to make a thick paste. Add the coloring food red or green. Put that mix into a bag with a cut at the end and pipe it on the cookies.
