Spaghetti sauce with meat
Spaghetti sauce ingredients:
1 large onion chopped
2-3 cloves of garlic minced
1 celery stick finely chopped
1 carrot finely chopped
500 grams ground beef
1 can (5 ½ oz) tomato paste
2 tomatoes finely chopped (optional)
½ cup water or beef broth
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
2 tbsp ml) extra-virgin olive oil
2 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1 bay leaf
¼ hot pepper or chili (optional)
In a saucepan brown the beef. Discard the grease. Add the chopped onion, garlic, vegetables, the seasoning stirring often for 5 to 10 minutes. Add the tomatoes, tomatoes sauce and the bay leaf and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer (the low heat will make the sauce non-acid, this is very important), stirring often for about 40 minutes.
If you want the sauce thick and rich taste, simmer for another hour. Discard the bay leaf.
You can add the cheese at the end. Serve with spaghetti or spaghettini.
